UDMR parliamentarians will exclusively support salary increases for employees of the local state administration during the plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies on Tuesday, the leader of the Union deputies Choma Botond said, reports Agerpres.
“After today’s meeting, the UDMR group in the Chamber of Deputies confirmed the position of the Union, according to which the recalculation of the allowances of deputies and senators in accordance with the minimum wage is not a priority, and thus the UDMR parliamentarians will exclusively support the increase in wages for local state administration employees during tomorrow’s plenary session Chambers of Deputies. (…) Due to the high cost of living, inflation and crazy energy prices, naturally, a large part of the population was surprised to learn about the proposal to raise salaries. However, it should be emphasized that the activities of town halls in small settlements are at risk of non-compliance with the provisions of the Law on salary there is a real danger that some town halls will be left without employees,” said Choma Botond, leader of the UDMR parliamentary group in the Chamber of Deputies, according to a press release.
He emphasized that the salary increase does not threaten the future increase of the pension and the minimum salary, which should be negotiated during the preparation of the budget for the next year in the government coalition.
“One must strive for justice. The legislative framework must be established in such a way as to offer real solutions to people’s problems. This is what we will do with salaries, and we call for the same to be done with pensions,” Choma Botond emphasized.
The UDMR reminds that the Law on Uniform Remuneration stipulates that the wages of local administration employees are determined in accordance with the allowance of the vice-mayor or vice-president of the county council, which is adjusted annually to the amount of the minimum wage.
“For the past four years, the legal norm has not been applied in all areas, which has led to a significant difference in wages. Over the past four years, not a single salary increase at the level of local state administration has been registered, which is why injustice and disagreements have arisen in the budget sector. UDMR claims that only the salaries of employees of local state administrations should be adjusted,” the press release added.
