According to News.ro, a McDonald’s restaurant in Gara de Nord was temporarily closed by the authorities of the National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) and fined 50,000 lei for several violations, including expired dishes, unsanitary premises and disorder.

On Thursday, the representatives of the ANPC sent a press release saying that the violations found at the McDonald’s restaurant in Gara de Nord have been authorized and are being monitored after the notification.

“I was in the company of some kitchen bugs in the restaurant (serving area) and I don’t want to imagine what’s back there in the kitchen. Another perennially devastating aspect of this ‘restaurant’ is the bathroom,” News.ro reported in a complaint received by ANPC from a consumer.

The violations found during the inspection were: the use of an overcrowded refrigerator/freezer room for storing products stored in this room, so that the products stored in this room are not kept frozen, thawed, inadequate hygienic and sanitary conditions in the production premises : tiled walls no tiles, use of cold space with a thick layer of ice on interior walls and opening doors with accumulation of macroscopic impurities, use of packaged frozen culinary products exceeding the minimum expiration date, storage of used sauces for various culinary products at a temperature of 37 degrees C recorded during the control, compared to the maximum storage temperature of 4 degrees C according to regulations.

Other problems found after inspections were the use of incorrect commercial practices: discrepancies between declared quantities for different products/drugs and net, use of unsanitary corridors/rooms with dirty walls, ceiling with peeling paint, fabrics, cobwebs, dirty floors with heavy deposits dirt, storage of secondary transport containers and frozen bakery products in the same room.

The economic operator was fined 50,000 lei, and the unit was temporarily closed until the deficiencies were eliminated. ANPC commissioners also made proposals to end unfair commercial practices.
