Fernando Alonso, a model on the track but also a model off it, says Max Verstappen

Fernando Alonso continues to impress at the age of 42 in the Grand Prix.

The Aston Martin driver is one of the few who had the opportunity to compete with the best Formula 1 racers of recent decades.

Max Verstappen is one of them and the recent world title holder told Alonso in a wide-ranging interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.

Verstappen highlighted the fact that Fernando Alonso is not only a high-level competitor, but also a great character, a humble sportsman and a role model from whom many have much to learn from.

“It’s funny because we’re from very different generations … he actually competed with my father. But we have a very similar approach. We really love racing. The proof is that Fernando, at 42, is still very competitive. I admire him very much.

Also, as a person, he is extremely nice to me. He does not boast of his titles and does not put himself above others, he remains himself. We can talk about everything in a natural and relaxed way, without complications. He is a good role model.” Verstappen said.
