According to the CNA press release quoted by Agerpres, which took place in an open meeting on Thursday, the Council analyzed the monitoring reports compiled by the special department based on the reports received and decided to impose sanctions on the Realitatea PLUS channel, obliging on May 18, 10 minutes out of 19 :00 to 19:10 broadcast only the text of the decision on the application of sanctions.

Members of the Council established a violation of the provisions of Art. 3 paragraph (2) of the Law on Audiovisual Media No. 504/2002, as well as provisions of Art. 64 par. (1) lit. a), b) and Art. 67 of the Audiovisual Content Regulation Code when broadcasting the show “Open the World”, issue of April 1 and “Behind the scenes of a parallel state” (issues of April 8, 14, 15, 19, 21, 28, 29 and 30, as well as April 11 and 12.

Article 3 (2) of the Law on Audiovisual Means stipulates that “all providers of audiovisual media services are obliged to provide the public with objective information by correctly presenting facts and events and to promote the free formation of opinions.”

The Audiovisual Content Regulatory Code stipulates in Article 64 (1) that “due to the public’s fundamental right to information, providers of audiovisual media services must adhere to the following principles: a) ensuring a clear distinction between facts and opinions; b) information about the subject, fact or event must be correct, verified and presented impartially and in good faith. Also, according to Article 67 of the Code, “When exercising their right to express their own opinion or point of view on subjects of public interest, presenters and moderators must ensure a clear separation of opinions from facts and not use their constant appearance in programs in a way that contradicts requirements for ensuring impartiality”.
