To support the transition of workers from the internal combustion engine plant in Douvrin to new electromobility professions, the Stellantis group, in collaboration with ACC, UIMM with its training center, with the support of the state and the Hauts-de-France region, designed the st “Battery Training Center Douvrin” (or “Duvrin Battery Craft Training Centre”).

This is the first training center new battery professions in France and Europe, providing a modern education allowing to respond to the main transformations of car electrification. The first promotion started this Tuesday, May 9, 2023.

A unique educational center in Europe

It training, certification and the award will allow students to join the giant factory ACC (Automotive Cells Company) located on the grounds of La Française de Mécanique de Douvrin, a subsidiary of Stellantis (PSA Group), which produces engines for the group’s models in Pas de Calais (62).

Up to 40 employees in a class

This Battery Training Center Douvrin is a valuable tool for the future of electrified cars, whether in the Hauts-de-France region or in Europe in general, with the emergence of battery gigafactories.

The first employees are, in particular, assembly operators at the Stellantis Douvrin site. In this way, they gradually learn about the new working environment, moving from the machine shop to the dry room, before training in positions specific to battery production during their training.

“Battery Training Center Douvrin” can accommodate up to 40 employees per session, and its activity will gradually increase. By the end of this year, 2023, over 200 employees from Stellantis Douvrin will join the ACC Gigafactory.
