Online stores of large retail chains, from supermarkets to sporting goods chains, are entering … marketplaces, thus using the popularity already existing among the population to generate additional income. After the chain Supermarket “Mashutis” and Marks & Spencernow this peculiar category of retail activity includes Intersport. In fact, of course, although their function is similar to that of marketsWhat they do is allow other well-known companies to sell their products there, of course, for a fee. What do retailers get who develop their online stores in this way? In addition to the additional income received from the commission, they also bet on the so-called “spontaneous” purchases of their own codes.

Intersport

Now through the online store of the sporting goods network Intersport, which was developed in Greece by the company Furlis Groupit is possible to buy goods that are not exclusively sports, such as casual clothes, thanks to cooperation with companies such as Funky Budha, Jack and Jones, JJXX, Barbour, sports goods (riding, golf, etc.) that Intersport does not offer. usually there is, but also electronic products that are partly related to sports, such as various smart watches, wearable devices, headphones, thanks to partnerships with companies such as Sony, Fitbit, Garmin, Xiaomi, etc.

Marks and Spencer

They offer the opportunity to other well-known companies to sell their products there, of course for a commission.

Marks & Spencer, which acquired The Sports Edit platform in March 2022, is on the reverse path, i.e. from a chain primarily made up of apparel to the inclusion of third-party sporting goods in its online store. As of February 21, the new platform has been integrated into the online store of the British chain, offering more than 200 women’s sportswear and shoes from various brands (Beyond Yoga, FP Movement, Girlfriend Collective, YMO, Veja, Hoka), with a target of 2023, for followed by other better-known brands in this category. The move on the chain’s part stems both from the decision to invest more in the post-pandemic and post-pandemic boom in the sporting goods category, and its strategy to include more established brands in its online store and beyond its own series. The network already has products from DKNY, Hobbs, Jack and Jones, Jaeger, Speedo, etc. The network’s online store in Greece also has other brands, such as sloggi and triumph underwear, Jaeger premium clothing, as well as the most profitable options, offered by the Jack and Jones brand.

“Masuchi”

The number of collaborations that Masoutis has developed to distribute products from other companies through its online store is now 11. The work began in December 2020, when it continued in collaboration with you.gr, the online store of the Quest group. Now, in addition to you.gr, Biocarpet, Cook-Shop, Bag Stories, Brands in a Box, Vita4you, petshop88.gr, Organic Brands, Morgan Collection, Kiddo are cooperating with Masutis, and recently cooperation with the furniture chain “Marmaridis “. The products of the collaborating companies are shipped separately from other Masoutis products. Each partner store determines its own pricing, shipping and return policy, and then invoices and ships the item directly to the address chosen by the buyer.

Recall that e-commerce turnover in Greece amounted to 14 billion euros in 2021, compared to 11 billion euros in 2020 and 9 billion euros in 2019.
