
Irish Chancellor of the Exchequer Pascal Donoghue the only candidate to succeed him as president Eurogroupan informal body that includes finance ministers from 19 EU member states that have a single currency, according to a statement released today.
“Only one minister has nominated a candidate for the next term of the Eurogroup presidency: Pascal Donoghue, Irish finance minister and current president of the Eurogroup,” the body said in a statement.
The election of a new president for a term of two and a half years is expected at the next meeting of the Eurogroup on 5 December.
Donohue, 48, has been in office since July 2020.
