In his speech on Tuesday evening, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi informed Ukrainians that he had returned to Kyiv after spending two days in a row on the front lines, in the Donbass and in the Zaporizhzhia region, where he communicated with the military and the command on the ground, which they – promised that all their requests will be transferred to international partners, and in parallel, Ukraine will start its own production of weapons, News.ro reports.
“We are ending this day in the capital Kyiv. Two days in Donbas, Zaporizhzhia region. (We visited) the 13th combat brigade. I was together with Generals Sirskyi, Tarnavskyi, Sodol. I spoke with brigade commanders and combatants,” Zelenskyy said.
“All appeals from soldiers will be addressed to high-ranking generals, government officials and our international partners. There will be new deliveries,” Zelensky assured.
“It is very important, we will start producing our weapons, and together with the soldiers we have identified several priority positions. This is what needs to be done. We will do it! And very soon. We have already prepared for this today,” said the Kyiv leader.
The president also announced that there will be further events and decisions “important for Ukraine”, but did not provide details.
Finally, he thanked the soldiers and said that Ukraine is proud of them, especially those who, despite being wounded, return to the front.
Volodymyr Zelenskyi visited Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia on Monday, and was near Bakhmut on Tuesday. His visits to the front come as the Ukrainian counteroffensive, launched three months ago, barely managed to break through the first line of Russian defense, which could give the necessary impetus to efforts to return the occupied territories.
