West Ukraine: Russia struck a military target
Also in western Ukraine, Russia launched airstrikes early this morning on a military target in the Khmelnytsky region, with five aircraft taken out of service, the local governor said.
Russia has launched missile and drone strikes on Ukrainian territory as part of its invasion of the country.
“Currently, work is underway to extinguish fires at fuel and lubricants and ammunition depots,” the Khmelnytsky akimat reported in the Telegram application.
The local governor’s office said work was underway to restore the runway, but did not provide details of the affected areas.
Odessa port: damage to critical infrastructure
It is also noted that the night attack by Russian drones caused some damage to the infrastructure of the Ukrainian port of Odessa on the Black Sea, which is vital for the export of Ukrainian grain, the Ukrainian army said.
“As a result of the strike, a fire broke out in the infrastructure of the Odessa port. It was quickly extinguished. Information about the size of the damage is being specified,” the Southern Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said on Facebook.
Whether these losses will affect grain exports is not specified. According to the grain initiative, Ukraine can export its products only through the ports of the Odessa region.
The Ukrainian military indicated that Russian troops were using Iranian-made Shahed drones.
For its part, the Ukrainian Air Force said air defenses shot down 29 out of 35 drones and 37 out of 40 missiles. She even added on her Telegram account that Moscow is targeting military installations and critical infrastructure.
