
The judges of the International Criminal Court (ICC), who in March issued a warrant for the arrest of Russian President Vladimir Putin, will be declared wanted by the Investigative Committee of Russia, the president of the Investigative Committee Oleksandr Bastrykin said. On Thursday, writes CNN with reference to the Russian news agency RIA Novosti.
- “The investigative committee very quickly opened a criminal case against the president and three judges (of the International Criminal Court – no), who actively influenced the adoption of this decision. They will be brought under control in the near future,” Bastrykin said at a forum in St. Petersburg.
On March 17, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian Children’s Rights Commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova, accusing them of war crimes in the illegal deportation of at least 100 children from Ukraine.
The decision obliges the 123 member states of the Court to arrest Putin and transfer him to The Hague for trial if the Russian president enters their territory.
