
Voting ended yesterday, Sunday, in most European countries for the upcoming Presidential and parliamentary elections in Turkey.
Polling stations opened at Turkish diplomatic missions in a number of European countries closed at 21:00. (local time).
Voting is closed in Albania, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Kosovo, Lithuania, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland, and the UK.
However, voting will continue in Austria, Denmark, France, Germany and Luxembourg until tomorrow, Tuesday, from 9 am. until 21:00 local time.
More than 1.6 million Turkish citizens living abroad voted in favor of electing a new president and parliament by yesterday, according to the Supreme Electoral Council (YSK).
Voting in Turkey itself will take place on Sunday, May 14. Voters will choose between four presidential candidates: outgoing President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who is seeking re-election, main opposition leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu, Muhamer Ince and Sinan Ogan.
In addition, 24 political parties and 151 independent candidates compete for seats in the 600-member parliament.
