The Air Force of Ukraine ironically commented on Wednesday that the explosion over the Kremlin, which Moscow attributed to a drone strike on Kyiv, could have been caused by a UFO, reports the New Voice of Ukraine.

“At first glance, I’d say it’s…probably a UFO. If in this way Russia tries to show some kind of “escalation” on the part of Ukraine, then Russia always does it. Over the center of the capital, over the building where the dictator sits, such strange things are happening – it seems strange to me, to put it mildly,” Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ignat said on Wednesday afternoon.

A Ukrainian officer also questioned the authenticity of a video of an alleged drone explosion over the Kremlin, saying the flag on the building was not damaged even though it was captured by the explosion.

He added that it is possible that Russian forces are preparing provocations after this alleged attack.

Ukraine denies responsibility for the attack

Ignat’s comments came after other Ukrainian officials denied on Wednesday afternoon that Kyiv was in any way involved in the incident.

The press secretary of President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, Serhiy Nikiforov, said that Ukraine does not attack the territory of other countries and that “we have no information about the so-called night attacks on the Kremlin.”

“But as President Zelenskyy has repeatedly stated, Ukraine directs all available forces and means to liberate its own territories, not to attack foreign ones,” Nikiforov said.

He also reacted to the statements of the Russian President’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, who qualified the drone attack on the Kremlin as a “terrorist act.”

“A terrorist act is an attack on houses in Dnipro and Uman or a rocket attack on the railway station in Kramatorsk and many other tragedies. And what happened in Moscow is obviously a preparation for May 9. An expected blow from our rivals,” he said.

Mykhailo Podolyak, a presidential adviser, told Reuters that accusations that Kyiv was behind the attack and Russia’s arrest of alleged Ukrainian saboteurs in Crimea could indicate that Moscow is preparing for a large-scale “terrorist” attack against Ukraine in the coming days.

Anger in Moscow after the explosion over the Kremlin

Vyacheslav Volodin, the speaker of Moscow’s State Duma, said on Wednesday that he would demand the use of weapons “capable of destroying the regime in Kyiv” after a drone attack on the Kremlin that Moscow blamed on Ukraine.

“A terrorist act against the president is an attack on Russia,” he said on his Telegram channel.

“The Nazi regime in Kyiv should be recognized as a terrorist organization. Zelenskyi, giving orders to commit acts of terrorism, stands on an equal footing with other international terrorists. The regime in Kyiv today is no less dangerous than Al-Qaeda, Jabhat al-Nusra, ISIS,” Volodin wrote.

Accusing that the “terrorist regime in Kyiv” poses a threat to “the security of Russia, Europe and the whole world”, Volodin said that Western politicians who decide to supply weapons to Ukraine “became not only sponsors, but also direct accomplices of the activities of terrorists” .

“There can be no negotiations with Zelenskyi’s regime. We will demand the use of weapons capable of stopping and destroying the terrorist regime in Kyiv,” Vyacheslav Volodin threatened.
