Two female students (aged 7 and 8) were seriously injured when a man attacked them with a knife at a school in the Neukölln district of Berlin.
The students who witnessed the attack are said to be in a state of shock, according to BILD.
The perpetrator, who attacked the girls in the school yard with a knife, was detained by the police who arrived at the scene.
Two girls were taken by helicopter to the hospital. The school is cordoned off by the police, students are not yet allowed to leave the building. Their parents gathered outside the school.
