At an event in Strasbourg on Tuesday, Annalena Burbock said in English that “we are at war against Russia, not among ourselves.”

“Russian propaganda constantly picks up statements, sentences, points of view, positions of the government and our partners and uses them for its own purposes,” a spokesman for the German Foreign Ministry said on Friday, according to Reuters and Agerpres.

The Kremlin condemned the “direct participation” of the West in the conflict, promising to supply Ukraine with German and American tanks.

In addition, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova demanded an explanation from the German ambassador in Moscow on Friday regarding, in her opinion, Berlin’s “contradictory” statements.

According to Zakharova, on the one hand, Germany has declared that it is not part of the conflict in Ukraine, but on the other hand, the head of German diplomacy, Annalena Berbock, has declared that European countries are at war with Russia.

The German government constantly declares that it is not part of the war in Ukraine.

On Wednesday evening, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz answered a question from the public television channel ZDF whether Germany and its allies are in any way participating in the war by supplying Ukraine with tanks, which they have just decided to do. “No, definitely not. There should not be a war between Russia and NATO,” he said.

Germany agreed to send Leopard 2 heavy tanks to Ukraine, the decision is awaited especially by Norway and Poland, which immediately announced that they were sending such armored vehicles to Kyiv.

The USA, in turn, announced that it would deliver 31 Abrams tanks to Ukraine.
