The recently liberated Ukrainian city of Kherson has been left without electricity after intense bombardment by Russian troops, the governor of the region said on Thursday, Reuters reports.
Kherson, which has been without utilities such as running water and electricity for weeks, partially restored power last week after Ukrainian forces retook the southern city from Russian forces in early November.
The governor of the Kherson region, Yaroslav Yanushevich, blamed the Russian bombing for the new power outage and said that the energy industry is working to solve the problem.
Having lived for almost nine months under Russian occupation, the people of Kherson now face the danger of regular shelling of a part of the city by Russian troops who retreated just beyond the Dnipro.
As reported, Russia withdrew its troops from the Kherson region

The General Staff of Ukraine reported in a daily report on combat operations that the number of Russian soldiers and military equipment had decreased in Oleshki, a city not far from Kherson on the Russian-controlled bank of the Dnieper.
“Enemy troops have been withdrawn from separate settlements of the Kherson region and dispersed in the forest on the section of the Oleshki – Gola Prystan highway,” the General Staff of Ukraine reported, referring to the highway that runs approximately parallel to the river in the controlled territory. by Russia
“Most of the troops are personally mobilized,” the Ukrainian army claims.
