
Shanghai, its most populous city China began to expand the requirements for diagnostic tests for COVID-19 extending a free diagnostic test until the end of September to keep the spread of the coronavirus under control, authorities announced today.
Citizens who do not have nucleic acid test results within seven days will be coded yellow in the city health system, according to an official announcement today.
The yellow code prohibits access to certain public areas.
Health authorities in Shanghai, a city of 25 million people, announced today that they had discovered a symptomatic case and three asymptomatic cases the day before.
Southern China’s Hainan Province has been hit hardest in the current period, with 594 symptomatic cases and 832 asymptomatic cases, as reported today on progress over the past 24 hours.
Hainan, a popular tourist destination, is expected to continue to impose tight restrictions and quarantine over the weekend.
The relevant China Health Commission today reported a total of 2,144 cases, of which 704 were symptomatic and 1,440 asymptomatic as of August 12.
