36 Romanian firefighters with nine pieces of equipment continue their firefighting mission on Saturday in the Quartier Le Fraio area, in southwestern France, under the guidance of the host country’s liaison officer. informs the Office of Emergency Situations.

According to the IGSU, cited by Agerpres, to manage the intervention in the best conditions, Romanian firefighters intervene with special fire trucks and a 12,000-liter tank that provides increased autonomy for firefighting missions.

Duties performed by the personnel of the RO-GFF-B module consist in limiting the spread of fire to residential buildings, maintaining a line of protection between the front of the fire and the unaffected territory, as well as eliminating hidden cells.

The IGSU says firefighters respond to extreme conditions. High temperature, low humidity (below 10%) and strong wind make it difficult for rescuers to work on site.

The support mission that Romania offers to the French authorities in the fight against forest fires was carried out by moving a specialized intervention module consisting of 77 fire-rescuers with special intervention tools.

Assistance is provided on the basis of a request for international assistance formulated by the Government of the French Republic through the European Civil Protection Mechanism.
