According to the spokesman of the Atlanta FBI, Tony Thomas, on Monday, a car drove into the gate for FBI employees in Atlanta, who tried to enter the headquarters without authorization, reports CNN and ABC News, citing News.ro.
According to ABC News, the driver was apparently trying to follow another vehicle as it entered the gate. A retractable barrier was immediately installed to stop the unauthorized vehicle, officials said.
The incident happened shortly after noon (local time), FBI Atlanta spokeswoman Jenna Sellitto said.
According to a federal law enforcement official quoted by CNN, the suspect, whose name has not been released, got out of the vehicle on foot and was arrested, then taken to a hospital for evaluation and is currently in Dekalb County police custody.
Law enforcement officers inspected the vehicle, the official said.
When the suspect was taken into custody, he did not say anything, make threats or make statements, a law enforcement official told CNN.
According to Thomas, no FBI agents were injured during the incident.
The FBI has opened an investigation into the incident and told CNN that there is currently no clear motive.
