Four suspects who attacked the Crocus City Hall concert hall in Moscow, which killed 137 people, were remanded in custody for two months on Sunday. Such a decision was made by the court of the Russian capital.

Four men are accused of “terrorism” and face life imprisonment, according to a statement by the Basmanny Court of Moscow.

Their detention, which is due to end on May 22, may be extended until a court date has yet to be set.

The names of the four suspects are Dalerjon Mirzoyev, Saidakrami Ratseabalizoda, Shamsidin Fariduni and Muhammadsobir Faizov, the official Telegram channel of the Moscow courts reports.

The identified men, according to Russian media, are citizens of the former Soviet republic of Tajikistan, who live in Russia.

Three of the four pleaded guilty to all charges.

After unverified and brutal videos of suspect interrogations circulated on social media, courtroom footage released by Russian media showed one suspect being brought in in a wheelchair, who appeared to be missing an eye, while another had his right ear bandaged , another had a bruised eye and a torn plastic bag around his neck, while a fourth suspect with a swollen face appeared disoriented and struggled to keep his eyes open.

Islamic State, an Islamist group that once sought to control large swaths of Iraq and Syria, claimed responsibility for the attack on Friday in a Telegram statement from the group’s Amaq agency. On Saturday night, the Islamic State released what it said was a recording of the attack on its Telegram channels.

In a video released by Russian media and Telegram channels closely linked to the Kremlin, one of the suspects says he was offered money for the terrorist attack. “I shot people,” said the suspect, his hands tied and an investigator holding his hair and a black boot under his chin. He speaks bad Russian with a strong accent. When asked why, he replied, “For the money.” The man said that he was promised half a million rubles (a little more than 5 thousand dollars).

One of the suspects was shown answering questions through a Tajik interpreter.

In unverified pictures published on Russian Telegram channels, one of the suspects can be seen being tortured with electric shock during detention. The authenticity of this listing could not be verified.

The Basmanny District Court of Moscow ruled that the first suspect in the massacre case on Friday should be placed in custody for two months before the trial, the Interfax news agency reported on Sunday.

Russian authorities announced the arrest of 11 people, including four armed men, who fled the concert hall and headed for the Bryansk region, about 340 km southwest of Moscow.

As Sky News reports, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow named the two suspects in the attack on Crocus City Hall: Dalerjon Barotovichi Mirzoev, Saidakrami Murodali Rachabalizoda. (news.ro)
