The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, in his daily video address on Sunday night, again called for an increase in air defense, showing that in just one week, the Russian enemy used hundreds of missiles, drones and bombs, and in the two years of the war, there was not a week without attacks from Moscow .
“Our air shield needs significant reinforcement. We are working on this with all our partners whose decisions can change the nature of this war and protect our towns and villages from terror. But our soldiers are already shooting down at least part of the missiles and most of the drones,” the Ukrainian president said.
“This week, from Monday to today, Russian terrorists used about 190 missiles of various types and about 140 Shahed drones, as well as about 700 aerial guided bombs. There was not a single week in more than 2 years of war that Russia refrained from terror,” Zelensky said.
At the same time, he suggested that Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory would continue, after those strikes on infrastructure critical to Russia’s military effort recently intensified. On Sunday, Ukraine announced the damage to two ships of the Russian fleet in the Black Sea. “We are doing everything possible to ensure that the occupying forces equally feel our absolutely correct response to this terror – every week, every day,” said Zelenskyi, who thanked both the Air Defense Forces of Ukraine and “all the heroes who destroy logistical support in the occupied territory , which clear the Crimea and the Black Sea from the presence of the occupier,” referring to the troops of the special services. “This is a difficult task, but our soldiers are gradually completing it. Everyone can see this,” Zelenskyi said.
At the same time, the Ukrainian leader asked to strengthen sanctions against Russia, which would “weaken” its military potential. “The less Putin’s system will earn, the stronger the sanctions will be against it and the more Russia’s military potential will be physically destroyed, the sooner Ukraine, our Europe and the whole world will feel peace again,” he told the Ukrainian leader.
According to him, efforts are still being made to normalize the situation after the Russian strikes on Friday evening. Kharkiv, for example, still lacks electricity and buildings. “The situation is very difficult. “More than 200,000 consumers – apartments and houses – in the city of Kharkiv and in one of the districts of the region do not have a stable electricity supply and are subject to rather strict rationalization programs,” said Zelenskyi.
“The main thing is not to get tired, not to lose confidence”
At a time when Ukraine is experiencing a moment of balance, it lacks resources and strength, and Russia seems to be gaining ground and preparing to escalate the war, the leader in Kyiv is trying to encourage his people and raise their morale, but at the same time send another alarm signal to their partners.
“The main thing is not to get tired, not to reduce our activity, not to lose faith in Ukraine, in our people and in our ability to convey to the world that the enemy of human life has no right to victory – neither does Putin. the right to win. He must lose the ability to destroy the lives of others. This is the only way to ensure common security – for our people, for all Europeans, for the whole world. I thank everyone who is with Ukraine!” Zelensky concluded his video speech on Sunday evening.
I am grateful to all our heroes who destroyed the enemy’s material and technical base in the occupied territories. Those who cleanse the Crimea and the Black Sea from the presence of the occupiers. This is a difficult task, but step by step our soldiers overcome it. Everyone sees it.
