The Dacia Sandero will have an electric version in 2027 or 2018, when Dacia’s most popular model will reach its fourth generation, Dacia CEO Denis le Vot said, as quoted by Automotive News. The Sandero was the second best-selling model in Europe last year, behind only the Tesla Model Y.

Dacia Sandero was released in 2008 and the third generation was released in 2020. The next generation will be launched in 2027 and 2028 and – in addition to petrol engines – will also have an electric version,” says Denis Le Vot, CEO of Dacia. This generation of Sandero will be on sale until 2035.

“The next-generation Sandero will be a large-scale car,” said Denis Le Vot, adding that the electric version will benefit from the experience gained by the Renault group in the development of small class electric cars such as the Renault 5 (shown in Geneva) and the upcoming small SUV Renault 4.

Le Vot also said that it has not yet been decided whether Dacia will remain in the A (subcompact) segment after the end-of-life cycle of the electric Spring, made in China. He also said that Dacia would also benefit from Renault developing the Twingo EV, which would cost less than €20,000 and be produced in Europe. “We are not talking about segment A or B, but about bringing electric mobility to the market at reasonable prices”

Last year, Sandero found 235,000 customers in Europe, including 10,000 in Romania, where sales increased by 17%. In Europe, the Sandero costs about 13,000 euros.

Dacia Spring, an electric car that is 30 cm shorter than the current Sandero, costs from 20-21 thousand euros. We can estimate that the electric Sandero will cost less than €25,000 at launch, and if costs can be cut in those years, the starting price could be around €22-23,000.

In 2023, Dacia sold 650,000 cars in the world, 550,000 of them in Europe.
