Serial thefts
Times are tough for everyone, that’s an undeniable fact. And it is not for nothing that the cost of living continues to rise in all areas. Unsurprisingly, the automotive sector has also not been spared, be it in terms of maintenance price, insurance or even customs duties. Not to mention fuel, which has also risen in price at all gas stations in the country. And that inevitably gives some ideas, while thefts and other tank-pumping have increased in recent months. And, unfortunately, this trend is not going to subside, and everyone can be affected. This applies to both individuals and professionals. And especially truck drivers. This is, for example, the case of Condé-sur-En, a small town located near Soissons. Authorities there recently reported the series fuel thefthighlighting a worrying trend in the region.

Increased vigilance
At night from February 16 to 17, two people were caught emptying a cistern in Condé-sur-En, before fleeing. Their next target was a semi-trailer in Resson-le-Long, where 800 liters of diesel fuel were pumped on the night of February 18-19. The scenario repeated itself the following night, with another fuel theft at the same location, for equivalent loot. Also, on February 20, the Ukrainian driver made an unpleasant discovery, to put it mildly: his tank was pumped while he was motionless. These cases prompted gendarmes to call on road users to be vigilant. These criminal acts are part of a wider context of an increase in car crime on the outskirts of Soissons. In fact, the number of car thefts, vandalism and theft of car accessories and spare parts is increasing. Faced with this situation, the gendarmes decided to maintain an increased presence on the main traffic routes around Cite du Vause.
