USR MEP Vlad Gheorghe says he was not allowed into the party’s Political Committee meeting on Sunday because he was stopped at the entrance by security guards on the grounds that he was not an “active member”. He also criticizes the party and its president Catalin Drula.
USR explains the reason why it banned MEP Vlad Gheorghe from the party’s Political Committee, which will be held on Sunday. “Because he is suspended, he could not vote in the political committee, so he was not included in the access list,” announced representatives of the formation, saying that it was “nothing extraordinary” and that the politician knew “that he did not have the right to vote and access.”
“A quick clarification on what Vlad Gheorghe claims. Vlad was expelled from the party for non-payment of dues. Due to his suspension, he could not vote in the Political Committee, so he was not included in the access list. The list was compiled for a normal event, nothing unusual. His access colleagues politely informed him that he was not on the list. so much. Not more. Vlad knew that he did not have the right to vote and access,” wrote on the UDR network.
The clarification was made public in the form of a comment on a post on Facebook by activist Angi Sherban, who appealed to the political formation with a request to provide an explanation as to the reasons why the member of the European Parliament, Vlad Gheorghe, was not allowed to attend the meeting of the leadership of the political formation.
“Why do we unite with those against whom we opposed, so that there would be peace?! With that silence, Dan Barna took Viorika Dencile in the second round in 2019 and we picked Johannis again. Thanks to this silence, the USR fell behind the anti-European extremists in the polls. With this silence, Sosoake is more presidential than Drula,” said the MEP, reports news.ro.
Vlad George, a member of the European Parliament elected from the UDR, reports on Facebook that he was not allowed to take part in the meeting of the political committee of the party, which will take place on Sunday and will be followed by a joint press conference of the United Right Alliance, where, except for the USR , also includes PMP and Forţa Dreptei.
“The gendarmerie moved to the Ukrainian SSR! Guards met me today at the entrance to the party flight. (…) I was told that “these are the orders”, and in the Register “he is not listed as a member of the UDR”, “a valid member”. I know that Katelin Drula is not a lawyer, but he still has lawyers in the party – he will answer him voluntarily if he asks, he should not pay them the same as his friend Cristian Guinea,” writes Vlad Gheorghe, recalling , that he had not received any notice that he would no longer be a member of the party.
He clarifies that his participation in the meeting of the governing forum of the formation will be statutory.
“The UDR, a grassroots party, an “other” party, for the people, among simple, honest, engaged people, today has security guarding the entrance from the Political Committee. This is what it’s like when you form an alliance with what’s left of Gabriel Oprea’s UNPR in PMP, this is what the Force of Right had in mind – I can’t tell you because I’m not allowed in. I repeat, I was not allowed to participate in the legislative procedure as an MEP of the SDR. (…) I told the Romanians that we want a Romania without impunity in public positions, and I told them that we want justice, not corruption. Now we unite with those against whom we opposed, why should there be peace?! With that silence, Dan Barna took Viorika Dencile in the second round in 2019 and we picked Johannis again. Thus, in the polls, the USSR moved away from anti-European extremists. With this silence, Sosoake is more presidential than Drula,” the politician writes.
Vlad Gheorghe also responds to those who tell him that “the linen is washed in the family”, stating that he has repeatedly tried to talk to Cătălin Drula and the leadership of USR, formally or informally, but it was impossible.
“I have no choice but to publicly say what is happening. I don’t enjoy it, it is more than shameful what is happening. (…) Those who criticize are either suspended or expelled from the party, and should we accept this as a fact? Be quiet, we are told now, as if it matters, not to do what is legal, legal, moral, what we promised Romanians when we entered politics to change this country. (…) USR’s mission is to change this country, not to remake controversial figures. For this, we had to fight on the podium with PSD and PNL in order not to take the painful 4th place in the voting options of Romanians. Is no one responsible for this catastrophe?”, says the MEP, who finally sends a message to the formation to which he belongs: “EDR, wake up!”.
