Two activists against climate change on Sunday poured soup on the protective glass of the famous painting “Mona Lisa”, which is located in the Louvre in Paris, according to Reuters.
The video shows two women throwing red soup at Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece, while visitors to the cultural institution look on in amazement.
“What is more important? Art or the right to a healthy and sustainable food system?” activists shouted in French.

They slipped under the security barrier to get as close as possible to the painting, and then were escorted out by Louvre security.
The activists represent the French organization Riposte Alimentaire (Food Response), which released a statement saying the protest aims to highlight the need to protect the environment and food sources.
In recent years, many activists have taken art as a target to raise public awareness about climate change.
In May 2022, as a sign of protest, the shop window in front of the “Gioconda” was doused with cream. In October 2022, some poured soup over Vincent van Gogh’s Sunflower at London’s National Gallery, and the following month, other activists simply clung to Goya’s paintings at Madrid’s Prado Museum.
