“On January 15, three GPS systems installed on special vehicles belonging to IPJ Vrancea, systems that had been in operation since November 2023, were discovered missing. The intervention of the maintenance company was immediately suggested, as it was suspected that they would interfere with the established systems. Thus, three GPS devices were not physically identified on the special vehicles, one of which was suspected of tampering. From the first checks carried out, it turned out that the disconnection was carried out during the provision of services by the same police officer,” said IPJ Vrancea, quoted by Agerpres.

The case was reported to the competent prosecutor’s office, namely DIICOT Vrancea, and a disciplinary investigation of the police officer was ordered through a specialized structure, namely the Internal Control Unit.

According to Ziarul de Wranch, he allegedly stole and destroyed the GPS systems on special vehicles so that his bosses would no longer track him.

According to some sources close to the investigation, the policeman would also be involved in other criminal proceedings after the accident.

He was allegedly drunk and fled the scene of the accident, reports Jurnal de Vrancea.

IPJ Vrancea said that it strongly dissociates itself from any activity that is not in accordance with the law and that regardless of the quality of the person who violates the provisions of the law, all measures provided by law will be taken.
