The warrant for the delivery of the activist Angi Sherban to the 18th police station after the publication on Facebook was not taken or approved by the prosecutor, write the journalists of the Center for Media Investigations (CIM), who also received official confirmation on this matter from the Prosecutor’s Office at the 5th District Court.

In a press release on Sunday, when the incident occurred, the Metropolitan Police stated that “as a result of interaction with the prosecutor’s office at District 5 Court, an arrest warrant was issued for the name of a 36-year-old woman.” .

However, in CIM’s response, prosecutors state that they learned from the police that activist Angi Sherban was brought to the station with a warrant only after the warrant was “executed.”

However, representatives of the prosecutor’s office at the 5th District Court explain that in such situations “prior consent of the prosecutor” is not required, since the police “are not obliged to inform the prosecutor in detail and comprehensively about everything.” a procedural action has been taken”.

In such situations, the police must justify the urgency for which an arrest warrant is needed, and according to documents seen by CIM journalists, the arrest warrant for activist Angi Sherban does not contain any specific reasons to justify the urgency.

On Sunday, prominent protester Angi Sherban was taken to a police station for questioning after posting on Facebook that she asked: “If in a democracy the police come out with rifles to a peaceful protest, isn’t it legal for people to come out with cocktails too?”

The police said that Angi Sherban “incites to commit crimes” with this message.
