Electra is poised to become one of the major players in the fast charging network and the French operator has just taken a new step by announcing 304 million euros were collected.

This financial injection, led by the Dutch pension fund PGGM, aims to support the rapid deployment of Electra’s powerful network across Europe.

Go where others don’t go

Launched in 2021, Electra stands out from competitors such as Ionity, FastNed and TotalEnergies with its approach focused on urban and suburban areas, where generally the charging network is not necessarily very high-quality and even more so fast.

While other operators prefer arterial roads, Electra has chosen to locate in the car parks of strategic partners such as Altarea malls, Accor hotels and Indigo car parks.

Constantly developing charging stations

Now present in eight countries, from Spain to Austria, Electra aims to make charging easier for individuals and professionals who cannot charge at home or who need a quick charge. In addition to network expansion, Electra plans to continue investing in innovation to develop its charging stations.

This fundraiser also attracted the attention of Bpifrance, which, through its large venture capital fund, joined the Electra investors. Historical investors such as Eurazeo, RIVE Private Investment, the SNCF group and the Serena fund also participated in this fundraising. With this financial injection, Electra has raised almost €600 million in capital since its inception.

With 180 current employees, Electra plans to increase its workforce by approximately 50 people across Europe.
