
A 56-year-old man was arrested on Monday afternoon (20.03) in Gerakas by members of the Investigation Department of the Attica Security Directorate, with two convictions pending.
In particular, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the crimes of collaborative and continuous fraud and forgery and forgery, and to 39 months in prison for the crime of collaborative and serial fraud.
According to EL.AS., the 56-year-old fugitive posed as unsuspecting people as a lawyer or notary with acquaintances in the interbank system in order to supply them with used cars at below market prices, which he claimed was the result of a bank takeover. Thus, he gratuitously extorted money or other rewards from his victims as advances. In total, he received at least 120,000 euros.
The detainee was taken to the competent prosecutor’s office.
