After presenting the technical details regarding the engine and then the chassis, Lamborghini continues to remove the replacement of the Aventador with the new information regarding its upcoming V12 modelthe final name of which we do not know yet.
As you probably know if you follow automotive news closely, the replacement for the Aventador will be a naturally aspirated hybrid supercar with a carbon fiber body capable of with a total power of 1015 hpwith a new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and four-wheel drive.
Four driving modes and three electrification programs
Today, Bull gives us more details about the driving modes, as well as the control of the two front electric motors and the rear electric motor, weight distribution, aerodynamics and braking.
There are three electrification management modes – Recharge, Hybrid and Performance – which can be selected with a special control and which complement the traditional driving modes we know from Lamborghini: Strada, Sport and Corsa, to which an urban mode is added.
In the “City” mode, the output power is significantly limited, at 180 hp in this case, for driving at low speeds, in traffic, which allows the car to move solely thanks to electricity. When the lithium-ion battery falls below the minimum energy level, part of the power of the V12 engine is used for recharging (in Recharge mode). Under these conditions, the suspension, traction control and gearbox are also calibrated to ensure optimum comfort.
In the “Strada” mode, the power increases to 886 hp, with the V12 engine running continuously to ensure a constant state of charge for the battery that powers the three electric motors. Two front electric motors contribute to dynamism thanks to the torque distribution system.
By switching to Sport mode, the true character of the new Lamborghini V12 begins to emerge. In this mode, you can combine each of the three electrification programs (Recharge, Hybrid and Performance). In the “Sport” configuration, it reaches V12, supported by a hybrid module 907 hp. The gearbox also becomes more responsive, the car noisier, and the suspension stiffer.
The combination of “Corsa” and “Performance” modes provides total power 1015 hpadding the 6.5-liter V12’s contribution to the electric motors. It is in this configuration that the new Lamborghini V12 will be the most extreme and can be fully used on the track..
Lamborghini V12: brakes, tires, weight…
As for the brakes, Lamborghini opted for 410x38mm carbon ceramic discs at the front and 390x32mm at the rear, with ten-piston calipers at the front and four-piston at the rear.
The brand also claims that downforce is 66% higher than the Lamborghini Aventador S, while drag is also improved by 61%. The front splitter and roof shapes direct airflow, while the rear spoiler works in conjunction with the semi-active suspension.
The car will be equipped with Bridgestone Potenza Sport tires designed especially for it. Without revealing all the details, Lamborghini specifies that this new model is 10% lighter than the Aventador, thanks in particular to a new carbon fiber structure, and torsional rigidity has increased by 25%. This architecture allows weight distribution: 44% front and 56% rear. The total weight of the car should be approx 1500 kg.
The naturally aspirated V12 engine is located in a rear central position, with two electric motors at the front (one per wheel) that take care of torque distribution for greater maneuverability in tight corners while offering greater stability at high speeds.
A third rear-mounted electric motor also intervenes in the energy recovery phases. It is paired with a new eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission mounted transversely behind the internal combustion engine. Thus, in the central tunnel, between the seats, the space that, starting with the Lamborghini Countach, was allocated to the transmission, is now allocated lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 3.8 kWh.
