In an interview with the “My-Ukraine” TV channel, the head of the cyber security department of the SBU, Ilya Vityuk, noted that “the aggressor country carries out on average more than ten cyber attacks per day. Fortunately, Ukrainian society does not even know about most of them.”

“We entered 2022 with eight years of hybrid warfare behind us,” he added. “At the time of the invasion, we were already prepared for worst-case scenarios.”

According to him, almost 800 cyber attacks were recorded in 2020, more than 1,400 in 2021, and this number tripled in 2022.

“Massive cyber attacks were repelled in January and February and gave us additional preparation for the Russian invasion” at the end of February, Vytiuk continued.

According to him, Moscow is particularly targeting the energy sector, logistics, military facilities, as well as government databases and intelligence resources.

“We monitor risks and threats in real time, 24/7,” he said. “We know by name most of the Russian hackers from the special services who work against us. After the victory of Ukraine, they will have to appear before the international military tribunal,” he added.
