Relatives of victims of so-called “false doctor” Nikos Kontostatis feel vindicated after the court decision according to which he was sentenced to eight life terms, 50 years of probation and a fine of 327,000 euros.

cathimerini.gr contacted the mother of the victim Kontostatis, Ms. Rania Moraitisand asked her to describe her feelings and comment on what happened in the courtroom after the verdict.

Ms Moraiti, visibly moved, said she believed the court’s decision was justified, emphasizing that “today the judge saw, spoke and finally beamed.”

“I feel justified. Now I can say that my child’s soul is rested. Nobody laughs at this anymore. Today’s decision is an excuse and a response to those who were suspicious of us. This man stepped on religion, misled my daughter and led her to death. The biggest evil he did was that he took the mother away from the children,” he added.

Ms. Rania then mentioned her grandchildren, emphasizing that the purpose of her life is to have the strength to be able to raise them properly. “For us, time stopped at the moment of our daughter’s death. Now we live for our grandchildren and fight with their father so that they grow up worthy. We thank Greek justice. Both the president and other judges understood us, got into our skins. I hope no parent ever goes through this.”

The mother of the victim of the The family’s lawyer was also involved in the case. Mr. Stelios Surlaswho stated that he was pleased with the decision of the MoD.

“I am pleased with the decision of the Ministry of Defense, as the souls of the dead will rest in peace, and this person will adequately pay for his crimes. Justice said! After a very difficult and painful trial that lasted more than a year, the verdict acquitted us,” he said.

Eight life sentences, 50 years in prison and 327,000 euros

Kontostatis was sentenced to eight life terms, 50 years of probation and a fine of 327,000 euros.

Before combining the sentences, the court sentenced the 50-year-old defendant to life in prison for each of the seven murders, to 12 years in prison for each attempted murder, to life imprisonment and a fine of 300,000 euros for drug dealing, to 10 years in prison . and €18,000 for fraud, one year in prison and €2,000 for impersonating the medical profession, two years and €15,000 for forgery, two years in prison and €1,000 for possession of a weapon and a sentence of one year in prison and 1000 euro fine for illegal storage of the monument.

The 50-year-old was found not guilty of five murders and eight attempted murders. At the same time, the remaining 16 defendants were found not guilty.
