“The world is undergoing a food revolution and the FDA is committed to supporting innovation in the food supply industry,” officials from the competent regulatory authority said in a related statement.

However, before lab-grown meat can be marketed, it must be approved by the USDA Food and Inspection Service.

According to Reuters, the lab-grown chicken was served to the participants of the COP27 international climate conference in Egypt.
