
A 27-year-old motorcycle driver who was traveling on the road from Pitsidia to Matala in the municipality of Phaistos died tragically on Saturday night (9/24) when his motorcycle collided with a car driven by a tourist. An EKAV ambulance drove to the scene, but it was not possible to save the 27-year-old girl.
Police are investigating the cause of the violent collision.
According to the President of the Voluntary Association for the Prevention of Road Accidents (ESYPROTA), Yiannis Lionakis, this is the 43rd asphalt casualty in Crete since the beginning of the year. In particular, 18 people died in an accident in Heraklion, 14 in Chania, 8 in Rethymno, and 3 in Lassithi.
