The Russian authorities will close the borders for men of conscription age, a source close to the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation told the independent publication Meduza.

According to her, the most likely date of the ban is September 28.

A second source, also close to the Kremlin, says that this will happen “after the referendums” that will be held in the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk republics and in the occupied territories of the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions of Ukraine.

They will end on the evening of September 27.

The second source added that there will be a kind of “exit visas”: in order to leave Russia, the men will need to obtain permission from the Military Commissariat.

President Vladimir Putin’s decision to order Russia’s first military mobilization since World War II has forced many men of draft age to flee the country, causing queues at borders and selling plane tickets abroad.

Some resorted to innovative methods, crossing the border with Georgia on scooters to avoid huge lines of cars.
