The search was carried out in the house of the head of the police department on the cosmopolitan island of the Cyclades by “corrupt” EL.AS.
According to ERT, the police operation at the commandant’s house was carried out unexpectedly, as part of a preliminary investigation commissioned by the prosecutor’s office of the island, which is one of the most popular summer destinations. The investigation was taken over by the internal affairs authorities without any further details about what they were looking for after they were made public.
EL.AS, however, has also turned its sights to other popular destinations, mainly islands where lavish parties are held and places where tourists have been the victims of passport theft, which has fallen into smugglers’ nets.
It is not certain that the two cases investigated by EL.AS. connected in some way, but the investigation by the authorities is still in the beginning.
