Naomi Osaka was criticized on the Internet after a scandalous post

The 24-year-old athlete wrote that she sometimes wishes her parents were rich so she wouldn’t have to keep working to “ensure their survival.”

“Sometimes I wish my parents were rich so I didn’t have to work for everyone’s survival!” the athlete from Japan wrote on Twitter, adding in the comments to the post: “I don’t think I would be here if my parents were rich because I wouldn’t have had the same motivation. So I think everything happens for a purpose!”

Many fans criticized Osaka, saying such a statement was inappropriate for a public figure of her stature, who has amassed a fortune in recent years. In the end, the Japanese woman deleted the post.

“How can you be a multi-millionaire and complain about the support of your parents. People support their families with much less money,” one netizen wrote.

Those who criticized the athlete focused on the fact that Naomi comes from a family with a stable past. Her father, Léonard Francois, is a coach and guided her through her first steps in tennis from an early age. When she was three years old, her family moved from Japan to Elmont, New York so that she could pursue a career in sports.

“Obviously, this should not be published by a grown man in his 20s, let alone a very wealthy and experienced public figure. However, I refrain from criticizing because I have never been in her shoes. My parents did not dictate my choice of profession,” another user wrote.
