Global population decline has already begun
We may have recently hit the eight billion mark on the planet, but that’s it, snap a quick picture to capture the historic moment! why Because we won’t go far. The peak will be somewhere around 10.4 billion inhabitants, then we bring it back. According to official data, more and more countries are declaring a decrease in the birth rate, even a significant reduction in the number of inhabitants.
Rising costs, insecurity, climate change, more women entering the workforce, and children being born at an ever-older age have all begun to affect the birth rate. China, for example, announced its population decline for the first time in 60 years. As a result, India will overtake it in terms of population this year.
And China is only the first in a long line. Other Asian countries expect similar declines. Europe is the world leader, and countries such as Romania, Greece, Poland, Portugal or Italy are leading in demographic decline. According to UN data, the number of inhabitants of the planet will continue to decrease significantly in the coming decades.
Russia, Germany, South Korea and Spain are estimated to experience these changes from 2030 onwards. France, Thailand, India, Turkey, Great Britain or Sri Lanka will follow this trend until 2050. China’s population, on the other hand, will shrink. by half by 2100, reaching an estimated 771 million inhabitants.
The only place where things are different is Africa, where the birth rate is increasing significantly. Probably, given the lack of education, information transfer, the information that they were to go to decline has not yet reached them. It is predicted that by 2100, 38% of the world’s population will be of African descent. As for what happens after 2100, the entire global population will decline, with the exception of Africa, which is expected to experience exponential population growth.
Milk made us great, literally
A recent study published in PNAS claims that humanity experienced a dramatic change about 7,000 years ago, with changes varying by geographic region until about 2,000 years ago. It is about the consumption of milk and dairy products, which would have had an unpredictable effect on our ancestors, implicitly on us.
The study, conducted by an international team of 16 specialists, examined no fewer than 3,507 human skeletons from 366 archaeological sites around the world, spanning the period from 25,000 years ago to the present day.
The data show that populations in Eurasia and Northeast Africa would have experienced a decrease in altitude, a fact associated with the advent of agriculture and a decrease in dietary diversity. The fact is that even this agriculture has not taken root everywhere. Not all crops yielded the same yields in different geographic areas.
Then people turned to another source of food, namely the domestication and breeding of animals. Hence the consumption of milk and dairy products. It is interesting that where the emphasis was placed on such activities, an increase in the body weight of those who practiced was observed.
This is due to the fact that people have developed the ability to digest lactose, and this has brought them not only an excess of energy, but also an increase in body weight. This can be seen even today in Northern Europe, where many more people are lactose intolerant than in Southern Europe.
Another interesting aspect that will be investigated in the future is that humans already started to reduce their body weight even before the advent of agriculture, 15,000 years ago, the study authors noted. It is not clear what exactly caused these changes, but it is believed that it would have started with a significant decrease in food diversity, a fact that also led to the invention of agriculture.
Forget what you’ve learned about runes! They are much older than you knew
A team of Norwegian archaeologists has just announced a discovery that is the Holy Grail of runic writing. That’s because the runes they discovered at a site near Oslo are much older than anyone could have imagined.
Officially, the runic alphabet was invented around the 4th or 5th centuries AD, and this assumption is supported by the fact that no inscription older than this period has ever been discovered. Well, that’s exactly what the aforementioned archaeologists discovered… a 2,000-year-old runic tombstone. A comb can also be found in Denmark, also of about the same age, also inscribed with runes, but it is not made of stone, so is not used.
If you’re wondering what text was written in runes at the time of Jesus, the Norwegians will tell you right away. And, they say, the word “idiberug” is clearly written on that tombstone. It is very interesting, especially since no one knows what the author meant in his work. Most likely, there would be some mention of the buried, but, you know how it is, we are talking about pure speculation.
In any case, you must stick to this, which is that the Scandinavians invented the runic script more than three or four hundred years before the officially accepted date.
