Serbian Novak Djokovic (36, 1 ATP) made a shocking statement this morning. He announced that he had stopped working with his coach Goran Ivanishevich.
After 6 years of working together, during which they won 12 Grand Slam tournaments, Novak Djokovic announced that he would no longer work with Ivanisevic. The Serb did not name the reason for the breakup, only saying that the decision was mutual and they will remain friends.
- “I clearly remember the moment when I invited Goran to be part of my team. It happened in 2018 when Marian (not Marian Wajda, Djokovic’s former coach) and I were looking to bring innovation and a bit of magic to our team at work.
- In fact, I didn’t just help the job, I brought laughter, fun, years of first places, broken records and 12 Grand Slams (and a few finals). Did I mention drama?
- A few days ago, Goran and I decided to end our cooperation. Our relationship on the field had its ups and downs, but our friendship was always strong. In fact, I’m proud to say (I don’t know if he is too) that not only did we win trophies together, but we fought a parallel battle for several years playing for Parchisi. And you won’t stop there.
- Thank you for everything, my friend. I love you!” – wrote Novak Djokovic.
