The Biennale of Art and Architecture will debut this year with the fourth edition of RCW in the Architecture section, after which in 2025 the Biennale will focus on art through the already traditional exhibition-event Manifest of Now, curated by Marlene. Herberth / KraftMade.

Under the title “common imaginary”, the biennial exhibition of urban architecture RCW24 invites the architects of Studio Ossidiana, an international award-winning studio whose practice lies at the intersection of architecture, design and landscape. Founded by Giovanni Bellotti and Alessandra Covini, the Rotterdam office collaborates with an international team of architects, designers and researchers to develop innovative concepts through new materials, objects and installations.

For the week of creativity in Romania, Studio Ossidiana will create a special installation called Drawing Theater. “We imagined a large drawing board on which anyone could print, with wooden tools, ephemeral thoughts and bas-reliefs on the mineral surface of the earth. We envisioned the space as an open theater where you can either sit on the edge as an observer sitting on the platforms, looking at the stage or enjoying the belvedere towards the city, or you can go on stage and interact with the traces left on the drawing board by the minerals.” , – reveal Giovanni and Alessandra.

According to them, during the exhibition in Iasi, the installation will be transformed into a place where art can be created, so that both artists and the public will have the opportunity to photograph and archive new works. “At the end of the festival, we hope that the materials will be recycled and become an experimental surface layer of the urban flower garden,” say the two architects of Studio Ossidiana.

This year’s Biennale architecture exhibition, curated by architect Elena Visiteu Ionescu and Anda Zota, will open on May 15 at Piața Unirii in Iasi.

More information about the surprises RCW is preparing for the 2024 edition can be found on the website www.romaniancreativeweek.ro, as well as on the event’s Instagram, Facebook and YouTube accounts.
