Yulia Putintseva (64th in the world ranking) managed one of the comebacks of the year at the tournament in Hobart (although 2024 has just begun), the athlete, who left the qualification, won the match, which “in the beginning” was almost 0-6, 0 -4.

Yulia Putintseva won the match in which she was led by Elisabetta Coccharetto with a score of 6-0, 4-0

The match with Elisabetta Cocciaretto (45 WTA) from Hobart will definitely remain in Yulia’s memory forever.

The athlete from Kazakhstan started the match in the worst possible way: she lost the first set with a score of 6:0 (after only 19 minutes), and the situation did not change in the second set.

Leading the game, Cocciaretto raced out to a 4-0 lead and the game looked like it would be easily over with an hour to play.

From 0-6, 0-4 and 15-30, Putintseva staged a comeback that is hard to believe.

He woke up from lethargy, began to serve better, make fewer mistakes, and game after game removed the distrust on the opponent’s court.

To complete the feat, Putintseva also saved a match point at 3-5 in the second set. After successfully getting out of a difficult situation, Yuliya won the set with a score of 7-5, and the decisive one returned to her in a tie-break with a score of 7-4.

The match, which Putintseva won (0-6, 7-5, 7-6(4)), lasted two hours and 20 minutes.

In the 1/8 finals of WTA Hobart Putintseva will meet with the 5th favorite Mari Buzkova.

The Hobart International will take place from January 8 to 13 on hard, is part of the WTA 250 category, has a total prize money of $267,082, and the champion title is Lauren Davis (2023).
