The price of Paris Metro tickets will double this summer due to the 2024 Olympic Games

This was announced by the president of the Île-de-France Mobilites (IDFM), Valerie Pecress, in a video published on the X platform.

So, the price of a metro ticket will increase from 2.10 euros (currently) to 4 euros, and a ticket for ten trips will increase from 16.9 to 32 euros.

Monthly and annual subscriptions valid from July 20 to September 8, 2024 will not be affected by these increases.

Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo recently sparked protests by predicting public transport problems in the French capital ahead of the 2024 Olympics, citing insufficient numbers and frequency of trains in some areas.

Mobility in the Paris region during the Olympic and Paralympic Games in the summer of 2024 is a challenge for the authorities, as they have committed themselves “that 100% of the access to the venues of the competition will be possible by public transport”, underlined the delegate of the Minister of Transport Clement Bon in late October .

Almost 15 million spectators and accredited persons are expected to participate in the Olympic Games, the vast majority of which are planned to be held in Paris and Ile-de-France, writes Agerpres.
