
Stefan Stan, a former player of the Romanian national team, has died at the age of just 35, according to the Romanian Rugby Federation. In 2019, Stan was diagnosed with paraplegia after sustaining a serious spinal injury in a serious motorcycle accident.

“During the last four years, Stefan Stan fought for every day of his life through treatment, recovery and new surgical interventions.
A former member of the national junior teams, U18, U19 and U20, Štefan Stan began his rugby career with RC Grivița’s juniors, and in his final year of junior training, he played for Aurel Vlajka’s high school team.
At the beginning of his last year, he went to Germany, where he played for Stusta in Munich for three years, after which he returned to the country for a short period in Timisoara.
He moved to Spain to play for Jaen, then returned to Bucharest where he played for four seasons with Olimpia before short spells with Pantelimon and Dynamo.
Štefan Stan ended his playing career with Sportul Studencesk, for whom he played his last match in May 2018 in the A Division final, even with Hrivica, the team that formed him.
The Oaks have joined a campaign to raise funds for him and for the past two years have played with the words “Donate for Stefan Stan” on their kit in official matches, the Romanian Rugby Federation wrote.
