Carlos Alcaraz (2 ATP) respected his status as the favorite and defeated his compatriot Alejandro Davidovich Fokin (38 ATP) in the quarterfinals of the “ATP 500” tournament in Barcelona with the score 7-6(5), 6-4.

The titular champion and main favorite of this year’s tournament, Carlos Alcaraz, managed to finish the duel with Alejandro Davidovich Fokin in two sets.

The first set was evenly contested and decided on a tie-break in favor of the player ranked second in the world ranking.

In the second set, Davydovych Fokina kept up with the score 4-4, but Alcaraz broke the rhythm at the end and decided the match in her favor.

The match lasted two hours and 13 minutes.

In the semifinals, Carlos Alcaraz will meet the winner between the Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo (32 ATP) and the British Daniel Evans (26 ATP).

The Barcelona Open takes place from April 15 to 23 and is part of the ATP 500 category. It offers a total prize pool of €2,661,825 and Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz has become the title champion.
