The Italian football league has announced that the Italian Super Cup will be awarded in 2024 after a mini-tournament involving four teams. This format has been used in Spain in recent seasons.
The four participating teams will become the two best in the championship ranking and the two finalists of the Coppa Italia.
So far, the Super Cup has been awarded in one match between the champion team and the winner of the Coppa Italia.
Currently, the format is only officially set for the next edition: “The format for subsequent years will be determined at a later date,” a League spokesman said.
Four of the next six competitions, including those in 2024 and 2025, will be held in Saudi Arabia, Serie A also announced.
This country has already hosted three Italian Super Cup draws since 2018, including the last one, which Inter Milan won against AC Milan (3-0) in January, writes News.ro.
