Enoch Muepu will be forced to retire at the age of 24 due to heart problems. According to Brighton, the player could have had a fatal heart attack.
“The condition, which could worsen over time, would put Enoch at an extremely high risk of a potentially fatal heart attack if he continued to play competitive football,” the post reads.
“We are all absolutely devastated because of Enoch. He and his family went through some traumatic weeks, and while we are grateful to him for getting through such a difficult time, his promising career ended at such a young age. As a club, we will give him all the love, help and support we can for him to make a full recovery and then he will decide on the next steps in his life,” commented Club President Tony Bloom.
“A child from a small town in Zambia named Zambisi wants to share the news. He fought hard for his dream of playing football at the highest level and, with God’s help, made his dream come true.
But some dreams come to an end, and therefore I also regret to announce that I need to hang up my shoes after I received medical advice, ”the footballer said in his farewell statement.
Enok Mwepu was forced to end his playing career due to a hereditary heart disease.
