Guanyu Zhu will stay with Alfa Romeo for the next F1 season. The Italian team has extended the contract of the Chinese pilot.
This year, the 23-year-old pilot made his debut in the main motorsport championship. Zoe will be on the team alongside Valtteri Bottas.
“I look forward to continuing to work with Zhu,” Alfa Romeo CEO Fred Wasser said ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix.
“From his very first day with the team, at the Abu Dhabi test last year, he impressed me with his approach to work and that is always a very positive thing. We knew he was fast, but the way he adapted to F1 in such a short time was one of the best surprises of the season. He is a very nice guy. Everyone on the team likes his personality and behavior.
He had the humility to ask questions and learn from both the mechanics and Valtteri, and the intelligence to apply all the information he received to improve from race to race. He will have that experience to use next season and I am sure he will take it one step further as we continue to expand our squad.”
“I am happy and grateful to Alfa Romeo for the opportunity to be part of the team for another season,” Zhou commented.
