One thorn seems to hit our team hours before the deadline to announce their final 12 at EuroBasket 2022.
After Papapetrou, who joined the program with might and main before the mission’s departure to Italy, yesterday it was the turn of Giorgos Papagiannis and Kostas Sloukas, who confirmed that both would be ready to participate in the event.
Both went through the first training session on Italian soil without any problems, and the Panathinaikos center switched to a regular schedule for the first time since the start of the pre-season.
The only one who remained on treatment again was Kostas Antetokounmpo. He hasn’t trained since the game against Serbia in Belgrade and doctors still haven’t allowed him on the court for fear of overexertion that will keep him out of action for a long time.
The most likely scenario is that he will make a name for himself in the Final 12 and join the team at some point, even if he has to miss some games at the beginning of the first phase. All this will be cleared up by noon today, when Dimitris Itoudis will make the final decisions in accordance with medical recommendations.
If all the players are medically healthy, he will have to choose which two of the fourteen who have been in Italy to exclude from the 12. In this scenario, Kaselakis, Bohoridis, Lountsis and Larentsakis will theoretically fall on the scales.
The application must be made before 15.15, 24 hours before the jamball of the first game (Great Britain – Ukraine) of our group.
The national team will play its first match in the tournament tomorrow at 18.00 against Croatia.
First jamball with Spain – Bulgaria
EuroBasket 2022, where Spain are firm favorites against Sasha Vezenkov’s Bulgaria, starts today at noon (14:30) with the first game of Group A in Tbilisi. There is no doubt, however, that the main game of the day is the game between Slovenia and Lithuania. Group B matches are played in Cologne. The rest of today’s schedule: 1st group: 17:15 Turkey – Montenegro, 20:00 Belgium – Georgia, 2nd group: 15:30 Bosnia – Hungary, 18:15 Slovenia – Lithuania, 21:30 France – Germany. The remaining matches of the first phase of the tournament: Greece – Italy (3/9, 22.00), Great Britain – Greece (5/9, 18.00), Greece – Ukraine (6/9, 18.00) and Estonia – Greece (8.00). /9, 18.00). If he advances to the next stage of the EuroBasket, the Blue-and-Whites will compete in Berlin.
