The President of SYRIZA-PS began his speech in Chania with a reference to the traditional song “Pote tha faa xasteria”. Alexis Tsiprascommenting that “millions of our fellow citizens are asking this question today.”
“So I bring you a message from every corner of Greece. On May 21 he will be naked. And the next day will be a new day for democracy, justice, our country. The dawn of change is coming,” he characteristically said, while expressing “joy and emotion” from the fact that he was in Crete, because “Crete is in the flesh and blood of our history.”
“From Therisos to national resistance, the democratic struggle, the struggle against the dictatorship, the great fronts of change, the faces, parties, struggles and conquests of the democratic faction run a red line. The line of freedom, democracy and justice. This line runs through Greek society today,” he explained and emphasized that “this line also runs through the vision, the program, the policy of SYRIZA-PS, the great force of change in our days.”
“Will we live another four years under this brutal regime of Mitsotakis? Four more years with the worst right of post-colonialism?” he asked, starting his speech and continuing: “Will we live another four years with children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, courtiers and close friends who distribute and divide the clothes of our people? But four years, when will the state, electricity, health care, education, water, air, the breath of society belong to or be gifted to the elite of privilege, speculation and the blue party? Or let’s give it a chance? In progress? In honesty? In fair and efficient condition? In democracy and justice? A chance for merit?
“These are the big dilemmas we face,” he stressed.
