Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said today that Sudan, torn by conflict between the military and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), has the right to use the services of Yevgeny Prigozhin’s Russian mercenary company Wagner.
At a press conference he gave at UN headquarters in New York, Lavrov called what is happening in Sudan a “tragedy.” But he reiterated that Wagner is a “private company” and Sudan has the right to use its services if it wishes.
“Remember how the state of Sudan came into being,” he continued, arguing that the US priority is the division of this country.
