PM refers to four steps promoted by the government for the disabled Kyriakos Mitsotakis in his social media post on the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
These steps are:
- The application of the digital disability certificate, effective from November 1, is universal for all categories
- A new employment program for 3,000 people with disabilities begins with subsidized wages and contributions.
- A digital learning school for people with autism problems is being created.
- Pilot ‘Personal Assistant’ app at home is being promoted across the country
Mr. Mitsotakis notes that following the state’s emergency financial assistance, a bill was passed in parliament a few days ago to increase the accessibility of products and services for people with disabilities.
“And the national digital disability portal, e-certification centers and the digital registry have already been launched. Hubs of information, service and, above all, facilitating the participation of people with disabilities in public life,” he adds.
In conclusion, the Prime Minister emphasizes that there is still a long way to go.
“That is why we meet on World Day of Persons with Disabilities, each day making our own efforts to remove the barriers that prevent these fellow citizens from experiencing what they are entitled to. No discrimination and outdated ideas. In a society of unity, understanding and solidarity. Where everyone will use their skills with the support of the state, as well as their neighbor. So that we all live together in Greece, which is moving forward and setting high goals,” he emphasizes.
